The Moore reach set a tone the 49ers could not shake: F.

The 49ers clearly saw something nobody else did in Derrick Moore, taking him 45 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The 49ers indulged a want in Ponds while a need in quarterback stayed open. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They banked enough surplus on Abney II to cover a lot of smaller sins. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with quarterback still staring back at them.
