Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the 49ers spent the 63rd overall pick on Derrick Moore, a name most had 37 spots down the list.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
