The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Miller: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Christen Miller had no business being available in Round 2, Pick 27, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Tiernan has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In the 28th pick they get a red-zone target to build around, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Caleb Tiernan
A conviction pick on Caleb Tiernan at slot 38 that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
Pick59
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Christen Miller at Round 2, Pick 27 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
Value with a capital V on Jake Slaughter in the 69th overall pick, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick106
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Mike Washington Jr. at pick 106, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick167
Rnd5
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick197
Rnd6
Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss at pick No. 197 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick231
Rnd7
Isaiah Nwokobia
The board had Isaiah Nwokobia higher than No. 231, and the safety fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick243
Rnd7
Antonio Kite
Antonio Kite slipping to slot 243 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
