Hall should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how TJ Hall got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at the 243rd overall pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Bowry has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In pick 28 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick48
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Christen Miller at Round 2, Pick 16 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick59
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Nothing to complain about; Jake Slaughter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jadarian Price
No drama and no debate, Jadarian Price went about where he belonged in the 69th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick106
Rnd4
Darrell Jackson Jr.
A quiet steal in pick No. 106: Darrell Jackson Jr. for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick113
Rnd4
Jude Bowry
A premium they did not need to pay, Jude Bowry a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick167
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
Good price on Aamil Wagner in No. 167, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick197
Rnd6
Oscar Delp
Nice patience on Oscar Delp, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick214
Rnd6
Jadon Canady
A tidy little value on Jadon Canady in slot 214, a step better than break-even. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick243
Rnd7
TJ Hall
Steal is underselling it; TJ Hall at Round 7, Pick 27 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
