The Patriots did not so much draft Tyler Onyedim as overpay for him, 67 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Getting Lew where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
