Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots bet the future on Maye. The board says B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

The Williams steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They are betting Logue proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at No. 34 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick68 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
They will replay Patrick Paul at the 68th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick103 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
They took Khyree Jackson at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick139 Rnd5 Theo Johnson
A reach for Theo Johnson in pick No. 139; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick182 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
A tidy little value on Jaylan Ford in pick 182, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick224 Rnd7 Isaiah Williams
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Isaiah Williams in the 224th pick, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick232 Rnd7 Zion Logue
Zion Logue in slot 232 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
