Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Wheatley: B.

The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Zakee Wheatley, the No. 69 name on the board, sitting there at Round 3, Pick 30 like a gift left on the doorstep. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Kitselman reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
