When a board-topper like Kaleb Johnson slides to pick No. 97, you do not overthink it, and the Vikings did not. The bottom line is a respectable B.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Safety was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The back end got a real overhaul.
The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Malaki Starks in slot 24, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Kaleb Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Barrett Carter at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jaeden Roberts in pick 174 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Clay Webb at Round 6, Pick 32 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
