The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Mason Taylor, the No. 99 name on the board, sitting there at No. 164 like a gift left on the doorstep.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mike Green. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 16, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They went early on Luke Kandra in the 95th overall pick, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Malachi Moore at pick 128 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 160 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Mason Taylor in slot 164 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ty Robinson in pick No. 166. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Nick Nash in the 248th pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
