Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in No. 78: the 49ers steal Haulcy and grade out a B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the 49ers were there to profit. A.J. Haulcy, the No. 49 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 78th overall pick. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Jacas proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick47 Rnd2 Gabe Jacas
A premium they did not need to pay, Gabe Jacas a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick58 Rnd2 Blake Miller
They took Blake Miller at par in pick No. 58, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick78 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
The board fumbled A.J. Haulcy all the way to pick 78, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick105 Rnd4 Logan Jones
Logan Jones at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jack Endries
A quiet steal in slot 127: Jack Endries for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick133 Rnd4 CJ Daniels
A straight-up fair deal on CJ Daniels at the 133rd pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick138 Rnd4 Gracen Halton
Gracen Halton in Round 4, Pick 38 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick154 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Nothing to complain about; Kage Casey went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick186 Rnd6 J'Mari Taylor
J'Mari Taylor at the 186th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jadon Canady
Jadon Canady at Round 6, Pick 30 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
