Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Patriots found their guy under center in Maye: B+.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

However the rest shakes out, Moore at that price is a win they earned. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In No. 5 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman in the 34th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick68 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
Value with a capital V on Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 3 slot, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick103 Rnd4 Rod Moore
Steal is underselling it; Rod Moore at pick 103 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick139 Rnd5 Nelson Ceaser
Nelson Ceaser in the 139th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick142 Rnd5 Javion Cohen
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javion Cohen. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick182 Rnd6 Ty'Ron Hopper
A slide stopped in slot 182, with Ty'Ron Hopper worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick224 Rnd7 Dominic Lovett
They barely believed it either: Dominic Lovett still on the board at Round 7, Pick 4. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick226 Rnd7 Fentrell Cypress II
No edge and no loss on Fentrell Cypress II in Round 7, Pick 6; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
