Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall C
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB
Slaughter should have been long gone. The Vikings pounced, and earned a C.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jake Slaughter tumbling to the Vikings in Round 3, Pick 18 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A weekend of give and take that grades a C.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. If Harris pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kenyon Sadiq. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick49 Rnd2 D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds in the 49th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Taking Jake Slaughter in pick No. 82 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick92 Rnd3 Kyle Louis
A quiet steal in the 92nd overall pick: Kyle Louis for less than the market said. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick97 Rnd3 Kamari Ramsey
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kamari Ramsey in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick112 Rnd4 Mike Washington Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Mike Washington Jr. at No. 112, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick163 Rnd5 Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. is a better player than Round 5, Pick 23 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick196 Rnd6 Zxavian Harris
They reached into another round for Zxavian Harris, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick235 Rnd7 Zavion Thomas
Value with a capital V on Zavion Thomas in No. 235, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244 Rnd7 TJ Hall
Circle this one: TJ Hall at pick No. 244 is a fall that decides a draft. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
