Draft Grade — Broncos

FutureC+
The Broncos did enough to get by: C+. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Broncos spent the 256th overall pick on Kaidon Salter, a name the board had a full 155 spots lower. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
Landing Thomas that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.
Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick Analysis
Pick62
Rnd2
Antonio Williams
A straight-up fair deal on Antonio Williams at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick108
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
They reached a country mile for Chris McClellan at pick No. 108, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick120
Rnd4
Kaleb Proctor
They reached into another round for Kaleb Proctor, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick160
Rnd5
Logan Fano
Logan Fano in Round 5, Pick 20 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick170
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
Value with a capital V on Tanner Koziol in the 170th overall pick, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick205
Rnd6
Thaddeus Dixon
A premium they did not need to pay, Thaddeus Dixon a notch or two before his time. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick213
Rnd6
Isaiah Jatta
Isaiah Jatta at pick No. 213 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick222
Rnd7
Jack Kelly
A big swing on Jack Kelly at slot 222, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick246
Rnd7
Zavion Thomas
You do not let a wide receiver like Zavion Thomas reach pick 246 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick255
Rnd7
Daevin Hobbs
Daevin Hobbs in No. 255 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick256
Rnd7
Kaidon Salter
Kaidon Salter at the 256th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick257
Rnd7
Fa'alili Fa'amoe
Fa'alili Fa'amoe is a better player than the 257th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
