You could see the war room lean forward. Payton Wilson at the 139th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The veteran additions, Justin Fields chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

It is a haul that will look even better come September.
