Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the 49ers.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The 49ers walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Graves has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Singleton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In the 31st pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58 Rnd2 Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II at pick No. 58 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick92 Rnd3 Caden Curry
A reach on Caden Curry in No. 92; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick95 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
Nice patience on Nicholas Singleton, who had no business lasting to pick 95. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick127 Rnd4 Kage Casey
They paid up for Kage Casey at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jakobe Thomas
Jakobe Thomas in slot 133 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick138 Rnd4 Aaron Graves
A reach for Aaron Graves in Round 4, Pick 38; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick171 Rnd5 Pat Coogan
No edge and no loss on Pat Coogan in the 171st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick223 Rnd7 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at the 223rd pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
