Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Smael Mondon Jr. got past him. The Vikings do not have to explain a thing at No. 140. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They will need Gordon II to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Nick Emmanwori at No. 24 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy bit of business in slot 97, where Darien Porter graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
Taking Smael Mondon Jr. in the 140th pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They went early on Ollie Gordon II in pick No. 161, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
