Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Dylan Sampson got past him. The Vikings do not have to explain a thing at Round 5, Pick 1. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 2 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The back end got a real overhaul.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

In slot 24 they get a ballhawk on the back end, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board fumbled Jihaad Campbell all the way to Round 3, Pick 33, and they scooped it up. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Dylan Sampson in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Sebastian Castro at the 159th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
