Golday should have been long gone. The Packers pounced, and earned a B. You could see the war room lean forward. Jake Golday at the 120th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Reaching for Gulbin left real value on the table behind him. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick62
Rnd2
D'Angelo Ponds
The board had D'Angelo Ponds higher than the Round 2 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick84
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
You do not let a wide receiver like Omar Cooper Jr. reach pick No. 84 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in pick 94 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick120
Rnd4
Jake Golday
The board fumbled Jake Golday all the way to the 120th overall pick, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick160
Rnd5
Matt Gulbin
Matt Gulbin in slot 160 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick201
Rnd6
Domani Jackson
Circle this one: Domani Jackson at Round 6, Pick 20 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick236
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
The board had cheaper options than Trey Zuhn III at No. 236, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick255
Rnd7
Josh Cuevas
Josh Cuevas at the 255th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
