Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a B+ for the Patriots.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

The Spann-Ford reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In pick No. 5 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton in slot 34 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick37 Rnd2 Devontez Walker
They jumped the gun on Devontez Walker, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick68 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 4, with Kingsley Suamataia worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick69 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil in pick 69 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick139 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zion Tupuola-Fetui in No. 139, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick182 Rnd6 Brevyn Spann-Ford
Brevyn Spann-Ford at the 182nd pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick224 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick232 Rnd7 Carson Steele
Carson Steele at pick 232 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
