Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Patriots.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Patriots took Marshawn Kneeland a full 73 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Wilson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Marvin Harrison Jr. at pick 3 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick34 Rnd2 Marshawn Kneeland
They left a pile of value on the table to take Marshawn Kneeland this early at the Round 2 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick68 Rnd3 Denzel Burke
Steal is underselling it; Denzel Burke at the 68th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick103 Rnd4 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at Round 4, Pick 3 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ray Davis
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ray Davis at No. 139 is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick183 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
A reach for Gabe Hall in pick No. 183; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick224 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones in No. 224 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick226 Rnd7 Ja'Had Carter
They paid a round early for Ja'Had Carter in pick No. 226, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
