Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Daniels is the Patriots' new face under center. Grade: B-. Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Jackson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Every board in the league had Wiley lower, and that gap is the story.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 3 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Guyton at pick 34, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick68
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard in Round 3, Pick 4 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter slid further than he should have, and the 103rd pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
Pick139
Rnd5
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at slot 139 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley in No. 182 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick224
Rnd7
Jase McClellan
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jase McClellan in the 224th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick232
Rnd7
Xavier Thomas
A reach on Xavier Thomas in the Round 7 slot; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
