Pats DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots

Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Patriots found their guy under center in Maye: B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Paul steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Knox pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the 3rd overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Devontez Walker
No drama and no debate, Devontez Walker went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick68
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
They read the board right and Patrick Paul was the payoff at No. 68. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick103
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at the 103rd pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick139
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell in pick 139 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick182
Rnd6
Trey Knox
They paid a round early for Trey Knox in Round 6, Pick 7, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
