Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B
ValueB-

FutureB-
The Patriots finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Guyton reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at No. 35 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
They jumped the gun on Tyler Guyton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick67
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at slot 67 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick68
Rnd3
Byron Murphy II
They paid sticker price for Byron Murphy II in pick 68, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
