Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA- FutureB
The Patriots found their guy under center in Maye: B.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In pick 4 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value.
Pick35 Rnd2 Johnny Wilson
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 3 with a little surplus value in Johnny Wilson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick38 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
By-the-book stuff, Troy Fautanu at pick No. 38 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jordan Morgan
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jordan Morgan reach the 68th pick and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick100 Rnd3 Marshawn Kneeland
No drama and no debate, Marshawn Kneeland went about where he belonged in slot 100. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102 Rnd4 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in No. 102 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick103 Rnd4 Cam Hart
Cam Hart at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick140 Rnd5 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A straight-up fair deal on Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the 140th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick143 Rnd5 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil in Round 5, Pick 7 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick181 Rnd6 Ricky White
Ricky White at the 181st pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224 Rnd7 Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall in slot 224 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
