Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA
The Patriots robbed the room for Fuaga. Final grade: A.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Taliese Fuaga, the No. 17 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 68th overall pick. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They are betting Jennings proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Cole Kmet leading the way.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Marvin Harrison Jr. and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick37 Rnd2 Michael Penix Jr.
They robbed the room for Michael Penix Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick38 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman slid further than he should have, and pick 38 is lovely value for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick68 Rnd3 Taliese Fuaga
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 4 is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick72 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
They did well to land Ruke Orhorhoro in the 72nd pick, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick103 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in the 103rd overall pick, and that is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick111 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves in slot 111 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick139 Rnd5 James Williams
A clean, defensible pick in No. 139 with a little surplus value in James Williams. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick182 Rnd6 Trey Knox
By-the-book stuff, Trey Knox at slot 182 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick184 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett at No. 184 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick224 Rnd7 Gabe Hall
A slide stopped in the 224th overall pick, with Gabe Hall worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick232 Rnd7 Donovan Jennings
Donovan Jennings at Round 7, Pick 12 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
