FutureA+
The Patriots bet the future on Daniels. The board says A-. The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
They banked enough surplus on Thrash to cover a lot of smaller sins. Perry has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In the 5th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Amarius Mims
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Amarius Mims in pick 34. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick68
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
They read the board right and Kingsley Suamataia was the payoff at pick No. 68. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick103
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick105
Rnd4
Malachi Corley
They will replay Malachi Corley at Round 4, Pick 5 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick139
Rnd5
Jamari Thrash
Somehow Jamari Thrash was still sitting there in slot 139, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick182
Rnd6
Cam Hart
Steal is underselling it; Cam Hart at the 182nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick224
Rnd7
Mark Perry
Mark Perry in No. 224 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
