Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Barrett Carter got past him. The Eagles do not have to explain a thing at the Round 5 slot.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a disruptor off the edge, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at slot 62. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Somehow Malachi Moore was still sitting there in pick 133, and they pounced on premier safety value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
You do not let a linebacker like Barrett Carter reach the 157th pick and blink. They did not. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jake Majors at pick No. 161 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 165th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, DJ Campbell in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
