Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
The phones sank the Dolphins this weekend: D-.

The Dolphins treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 7 slot on Haynes King a full 73 spots early. Put together, it is a D-.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Stukes pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, running back and other spots still on the board. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Scott falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Monroe Freeling
In slot 11 they get a cornerstone up front, though they paid up to get him.
Pick30 Rnd1 Dillon Thieneman
In pick 30 they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick43 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Nothing to complain about; Emmanuel Pregnon went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
They read the board right and Keionte Scott was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 11. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick87 Rnd3 Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange in pick No. 87 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick90 Rnd3 Treydan Stukes
A surprising call. With edge rusher, running back and other spots still to address, they spent the 90th overall pick on Treydan Stukes, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick94 Rnd3 Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in the 94th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick130 Rnd4 Isaiah World
They paid up for Isaiah World at pick 130 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick151 Rnd5 Oscar Delp
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Oscar Delp well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick227 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
Jeff Caldwell at slot 227 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick238 Rnd7 Haynes King
Haynes King in No. 238 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
