The Patriots let Clark fall into their laps, and walked away with a C-.

The board owed the Patriots one, and it paid up: De'Corian Clark, the No. 200 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 237 like a gift left on the doorstep. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C- in the wash.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The Max Duggan pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
