Mahogany should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a B.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Patriots were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.

The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Mahogany pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The veteran additions, DJ Moore chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

If Randolph Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
