FutureA+
The Patriots bled value on every deal, hence the C+. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Patriots shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Milton III left real value on the table behind him. Landing Nelson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
By-the-book stuff, Dallas Turner at pick 14 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick34
Rnd2
Graham Barton
Graham Barton at No. 34 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick68
Rnd3
Adisa Isaac
No edge and no loss on Adisa Isaac in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher in Round 4, Pick 3 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
A premium they did not need to pay, Joe Milton III a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick182
Rnd6
Christian Jones
They paid sticker price for Christian Jones in the 182nd overall pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick224
Rnd7
Zion Nelson
Zion Nelson in the 224th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
