The trade table was where it all came apart. The Patriots shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.

The McLachlan reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Smith-Wade steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
