Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Ravens checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Ravens did not so much draft Nick Barrett as overpay for him, 48 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
The Dixon steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. More want than need.
Pick45
Rnd2
Max Iheanachor
A straight-up fair deal on Max Iheanachor at the 45th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick80
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields is a better player than No. 80 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick115
Rnd4
Malik Muhammad
Taking Malik Muhammad in Round 4, Pick 15 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jalen Farmer
By-the-book stuff, Jalen Farmer at pick 154 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
Value said wait; Pat Coogan in pick No. 162 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick173
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
They paid up for Oscar Delp at slot 173 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick174
Rnd5
Taylen Green
A reach on Taylen Green in Round 5, Pick 34; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick211
Rnd6
Nick Barrett
Nick Barrett in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick250
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
No edge and no loss on Trey Zuhn III in pick 250; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick253
Rnd7
Thaddeus Dixon
They barely believed it either: Thaddeus Dixon still on the board at pick No. 253. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
