Nobody dealt better than the Patriots this weekend: A-.

The Patriots clearly saw something nobody else did in Al Blades Jr., taking him 51 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

However the rest shakes out, Lovett at that price is a win they earned. The veteran additions, Calvin Ridley chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick19 Rnd1 JC Latham
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
A reach on Kris Jenkins in the 34th pick; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick68 Rnd3 Rod Moore
They took Rod Moore at par in slot 68, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick92 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in Round 3, Pick 29 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick134 Rnd4 Mike Sainristil
No edge and no loss on Mike Sainristil in the 134th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick139 Rnd5 Cam Hart
They read the board right and Cam Hart was the payoff at pick 139. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick182 Rnd6 Theo Wease
Theo Wease at Round 6, Pick 7 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

They barely believed it either: Dominic Lovett still on the board at slot 224. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

They reached into another round for Al Blades Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
