Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B+
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureB
The Ravens won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B+. If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Ravens, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Ed Oliver pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
They will need Harris to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In the 14th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick45
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick91
Rnd3
Sam Hecht
They did well to land Sam Hecht in pick No. 91, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore in the 125th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
No edge and no loss on Tanner Koziol in No. 154; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick162
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner at pick 162 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick173
Rnd5
Marlin Klein
A clean, defensible pick in slot 173 with a little surplus value in Marlin Klein. It fills a real need, too.
Pick174
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ted Hurst in Round 5, Pick 34. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick211
Rnd6
Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris at pick 211 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick250
Rnd7
Charles Demmings
Charles Demmings slipping to Round 7, Pick 34 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick253
Rnd7
Desmond Reid
By-the-book stuff, Desmond Reid at No. 253 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
