The move everyone will second-guess came early. The 49ers reached some 36 spots for Skyler Gill-Howard, and value like that does not grow back. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Landing Slaughter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
