This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Darien Porter, the No. 80 name on the board, stolen at Round 5, Pick 1. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 30 they get an anchor for the defensive front, and a steal at that.
Somehow Azareye'h Thomas was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They barely believed it either: TreVeyon Henderson still on the board at pick 108. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Dylan Fairchild at Round 4, Pick 26 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Darien Porter at slot 140 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Taking Jake Majors in the 161st overall pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
