You build a draft on nights like this. TreVeyon Henderson had no business being available in No. 138, and the Vikings did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Every board in the league had Campbell lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 30 they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took Kevin Winston Jr. at par in the 89th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Andrew Mukuba at the 97th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Skattebo. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking TreVeyon Henderson in slot 138 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They reached into another round for DJ Campbell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Sonny Styles in No. 175 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nick Nash in pick 229 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Terrance Ferguson at the Round 7 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
