Draft Grade — Rams

FutureB-
Hurst should have been long gone. The Rams pounced, and earned a B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Ted Hurst had no business being available in No. 207, and the Rams did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 2 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick 13 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. More want than need.
Pick61
Rnd2
D'Angelo Ponds
They let D'Angelo Ponds come to them and pounced at the 61st pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick93
Rnd3
Sam Hecht
Good price on Sam Hecht in slot 93, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick207
Rnd6
Ted Hurst
The board fumbled Ted Hurst all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick232
Rnd7
Jeff Caldwell
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 232, where Jeff Caldwell graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick251
Rnd7
Alan Herron
Alan Herron at Round 7, Pick 35 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick252
Rnd7
TJ Hall
Circle this one: TJ Hall at No. 252 is a fall that decides a draft. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
