The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Wilson: B.

Call it larceny. Johnny Wilson sat on the board until pick No. 188, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice.

The Hart pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Every board in the league had Hartman lower, and that gap is the story.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Cooper DeJean
Cooper DeJean slid further than he should have, and No. 42 is lovely value for the cornerback. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick59 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in Round 2, Pick 27; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick86 Rnd3 Xavier Worthy
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 86th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick123 Rnd4 Cam Hart
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cam Hart adds a cornerback and leaves edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick127 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo in the 127th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick188 Rnd6 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in pick No. 188 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick247 Rnd7 Sam Hartman
They paid a round early for Sam Hartman in the Round 7 slot, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
