Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Texans.

For all the boxes ticked, the Texans skipped the loudest one: interior defensive lineman is exactly as bare as it was. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

That Mitchell pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Owens has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
The board had Adonai Mitchell higher than slot 42, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick59 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins slipping to Round 2, Pick 27 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick86 Rnd3 Max Melton
Max Melton slid further than he should have, and the 86th pick is lovely value for the cornerback. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick123 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
No drama and no debate, Isaac Guerendo went about where he belonged in pick No. 123. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
No edge and no loss on Mohamed Kamara in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick188 Rnd6 Ty'Ron Hopper
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 188. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick247 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
They liked Tyler Owens enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 247. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
