Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
Thieneman should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a D.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

Every board in the league had Tiernan lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Thieneman to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the Round 1 slot they get a lead back with juice at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick44 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman in pick 44 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick46 Rnd2 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson at Round 2, Pick 14 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick72 Rnd3 Caleb Tiernan
Caleb Tiernan at slot 72 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick77 Rnd3 Dontay Corleone
Dontay Corleone at No. 77 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick124 Rnd4 Deion Burks
Nice patience on Deion Burks, who had no business lasting to the 124th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick157 Rnd5 Logan Jones
A quiet steal in the 157th overall pick: Logan Jones for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick200 Rnd6 Cameron Calhoun
A tidy little value on Cameron Calhoun in slot 200, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick234 Rnd7 Shamar Easter
You do not let a tight end like Shamar Easter reach the 234th pick and blink. They did not. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick254 Rnd7 Jalen Thompson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jalen Thompson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
