Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Texans, and a B to prove it.

For all the boxes ticked, the Texans skipped the loudest one: edge rusher is exactly as bare as it was. The bottom line is a respectable B.

McLachlan has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Getting Shipley where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in pick No. 42 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick59 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Value with a capital V on Cooper Beebe in the 59th overall pick, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick86 Rnd3 Max Melton
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Max Melton at slot 86 is the proof. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick123 Rnd4 Will Shipley
Will Shipley at Round 4, Pick 23 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams at No. 127 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick188 Rnd6 Tanner McLachlan
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tanner McLachlan. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick247 Rnd7 Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio slipping to the 247th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
