Saints' NFL Draft Trade with Eagles Suggests a Quarterback is Coming

The Saints' trade with the Eagles suggests that they'll draft a quarterback in 2022.

We had an NFL trade on Monday afternoon, with teams swapping draft capital. What does it all mean?

Here are the details from the Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints draft swap that included the Eagles sending two of their three first round picks to the Saints.

In return the Eagles get back a first rounder from the Saints as well as a first in next year's draft and other assets. This is a long term bet for the Eagles, who are seemingly content giving Jalen Hurts another season to build on his playoff campaign in 2021 as the team stockpiles assets in the future.

Meanwhile, the Saints are looking to be aggressive, now armed with two first round picks to either draft quality players to build around a capped out roster or move up further in the first round for a QB, which is most likely Malik Willis or Kenny Picket, based on prevailing draft sentiment.

Over at WynnBET Sportsbook, The Saints are +300 to select Pickett while Willis is +1400, the two QB's mocked to go first on draft night. There is a bit of a drop off after those two, with Desmond Ridder and Matt Corral hanging around the back of the first round, if not the second.

Again, New Orleans could be content sitting tight with a pair of first round picks and acquire more talent around projected starter Jameis Winston, but as FanSided's Matt Verderame hypothesized post trade, the Saints appear to be angling to move up and take a new QB.

Stay tuned for more on these two NFC teams draft day plans after a trade with a boatload of picks involved.
