Which Team Will Pick Jameson Williams in 2022 NFL Draft?

The 2022 NFL Draft is just a few hours away but a ton of questions still remain. One of the big ones is which wide receiver is first off the board and who takes him? While the consensus is that Garrett Wilson will be the first off the board with the No. 10 pick to the Jets, nothing is set in stone yet. There are a few guys who are worthy of being the first WR off the board tonight. One other option is Jameson Williams.

Williams, a product of the Alabama program, is considered the second-best wide receiver in the draft. While I don’t necessarily agree, that is not what this article is about. This article is going to attempt to predict where Williams (+175 to be first receiver taken) will end up tonight. Will he be the second WR on the board? Or will Chris Olave or Drake London take that honor? 

As it currently stands, despite being higher ranked by many, Williams could easily be the third or fourth receiver off the board. 

Wiliams would likely have been a lock for a top-two spot, but he tore his ACL in the National Championship game against Georgia earlier this year. It might have cost 'Bama the title, but it definitely cost Williams some draft stock and a few spots on the draft board. 

While the injury cost him a few spots, I think he still finds a landing spot in Philadelphia. Williams is reportedly ahead of his recovery timetable for recovery from his ACL surgery, and the Eagles need help at wide receiver. This is becoming a habit for the Eagles though. This would be the second year in a row that the Eagles draft a highly-touted receiver from Alabama. DeVonta Smith was fantastic for them last year, so why not go back to the well? 

The issue I see here is that Williams won't have a ton of impact his rookie year. The ACL tear will have lasting effects, and the Eagles aren’t dumb enough to rush him back to action. When he is ready, he is going to be relied upon heavily in an offense that lacks a ton of weapons. If the draft goes this way, it will be fun to see the two Crimson Tide players working together again.
