Sizing Up the Top Leaders and Tankers of the 2026 NFL Season So Far
You can learn a lot about a team in their first three games, and while there will be hot and cold streaks to come, the first few weeks of play really set the tone in what is a rather short season of sport. At the time of writing, six teams were undefeated – although, the Eagles were a game behind – while five were without a win in three.
The scrap for the top conference spots and the race to the bottom are very much in motion. Will superstars still craving a Lombardi Trophy finally come out on top, and will a team already blessed with young talent hit the jackpot once again over the upcoming offseason?
Bills Narrowly Edging Rams and 49ers
The Buffalo Bills are playing like they can’t be touched. While the roster is well-equipped in just about every regard, it’s the performances of quarterback Josh Allen that are generated a lot of Bills buzz once again. As was reported by the NFL, on a podcast, Allen said, “you knock enough at the door, it’s going to open at some point.”
The Bills have been up there for years, but last season, Kansas City Chiefs dynasty was simply too much for them to overcome. Things might be different this year, with the Bills putting up over 100 points by their third win in three games. The 78 points against is an eyebrow raiser, though, as championship teams tend to run a tight defence.
It’s likely because of this that the lines on OG see two teams with strong defences, on paper, as being close in the hunt. They’ve got the Rams and 49ers at 13 percent, trailing the 15 percent Bills. Meanwhile, the Chiefs trail at 10 percent, creating a clear front three for now.
Of course, those markets change often, so those who like the lines may want to claim them while they last. Now, applying an OG promo code can get would-be traders into the action quickly.
Who's Already Tanking?
If you love to follow the Draft buzz each season, then you'll be watching the teams that are tanking closely. Here, we'll see which teams are positioning themselves to get the very best new talents coming through the system in time of the 2027 NFL Draft.
We’ve got a few predictable teams loitering down the bottom of the overall standings already. Miami get a 65 percent shot at OG to end with the worst NFL regular season record. And, at 0-3, they’ve made a good start on that. They’re followed by the Titans (26 percent), the Cardinals (18 percent), and the Jets (15 percent).
There's another storyline worth watching, and that's the trials and tribulations of the Los Angeles Chargers. An ESPN analyst has labeled them “unwatchable,” following the 0-3 start. They were tipped to be amongst the most exciting teams with the new staff in, but they’ve floundered so far. They also have one of the roughest remaining schedules in the NFL, with a stretch of seven grueling games still to come.
So, whether you're watching the top end and the unpredictability of the playoffs, or are invested in seeing if the Chargers join the Fins and Titans at the bottom, there's plenty of excitement yet to come.
