Tristan Leigh from Robinson Secondary High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 5-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Leigh opted to join Clemson.In 2021 as a freshman Leigh saw action in just 2 games and played a total of 20 snaps for the Tigers. He allowed no QB hurries, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing sparingly.
As a sophomore in 2022 he played in 5 games and a total of 50 snaps. He conceded no QB hurries, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing at left tackle.
In 2023 as a junior Leigh saw action in 12 games and totaled 672 snaps. He gave up 10 QB hurries, 5 QB hits, and 2 sacks while playing most of his snaps at left tackle.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Displays good awareness when it comes to reading moving bodies, effectively reacting and adjusting. Leigh also shows a good feel for combo blocks.
- He thrives on physicality, often out-grappling bigger defensive linemen and winning in the phone booth with tenacity and upper-body strength.
- He will have a chance to develop as a right tackle or possibly inside at guard, where Leigh could be an interesting prospect for a zone-blocking team. If nothing else, that versatility is enough to make him at least a quality reserve.
- A work in progress with some raw tools, has a solid blend of length and agility. Leigh has a powerful upper body and does an impressive job using his length, with power behind his initial punch and the grip to grab and move defenders.
- Quick to get his hands up and will use his length to his advantage early in the down.
- Shows a good feel for combo blocks, and he displays good quickness and flexibility when moving to the second level, capable of sealing the back side on reach blocks
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Had issues against quality counter moves, struggling to readjust. That’s something he’ll see frequently against NFL technicians in the pass rush.
- More of a waist bender with subpar feet, and Leigh too often ends up reaching and lunging when going against quickness.
- Has inconsistent footwork and body positioning and needs to improve his blocking angles.
