Scouting Report: Strengths
- He’s excellent at setting the edge against the run, with the core strength and long arms to stack and shed blockers. Hobbs displays the awareness to read plays and locate the ball quickly.
- Big-bodied rusher with very good upper-body strength. Strong and stout at the point of attack with the measurables to occupy multiple blockers.
- He flashes short-area quickness and strength to be a force in the middle.
- He looks like a potential pro starter and top 120 pick, ideally suited for a team that utilizes a rotation heavy defensive line.
- He shows impressive burst and enough quickness to occasionally threaten the edge as a pass rusher.
- He’s strong at the point of attack against the run, able to hold his own when asked to play inside and battle double teams. Hobbs has outstanding lateral movement skills and is quick to slip blocks with the speed to cover a lot of ground in pursuit.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Plays high and with poor balance and power. He’ll lose ground at the point of attack, and Hobbs doesn’t get the full benefit of his length.
- Sees the ball well but is stuck on blocks when head-up; does not shed to make plays often enough.
- His pass rush moves need refinement, and he doesn’t have a lot of range in coverage.

The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
