Draft Profile: Bio
Gus Hawkins played at Scott City before moving to Mill Valley High School in Kansas, winning two state championships and the 2023 Kansas Sports Central offensive lineman of the year award. ESPN rated him the top 2024 prospect in Kansas, and he was a basketball player and track athlete too.Hawkins played three snaps in one game in 2024 while redshirting. In 2025 he made his first start against Army and played 123 snaps in seven games before an unspecified injury ended his season.
Hawkins was one of five candidates for the left tackle job in preseason, with offensive coordinator Collin Klein saying it would be a bit by committee early. He has since played every game at tackle, logging 551 snaps without allowing a sack. His roughest day came at Arizona State, which got four pressures, and he was penalized twice at Cincinnati. He played a season-high 85 snaps in that Cincinnati game.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Zero sacks allowed across 551 snaps this season
- Clean opener against Nicholls, with no pressures allowed
- Athletic enough to reach linebackers on the move in the run game
- Top-rated player in Kansas in his recruiting class
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Gave up four pressures at Arizona State in October
- Flagged twice in the September road game at Cincinnati
- An unspecified injury cut his 2025 season short after seven games
- Has seen real playing time in just one season
- Light frame for a tackle who will face NFL power rushers
Scouting Report: Summary
Hawkins is a young, athletic tackle who has grown into a full-time role at Kansas State. He moves well, has been on the field for every game and has kept a clean sack record. However, Arizona State pressured the quarterback four times through him, and Cincinnati drew two penalties from him. He is light for a tackle, and his only previous action was an injury-shortened 2025 season.
Overall, Hawkins is a promising developmental tackle. He projects as a priority free agent, though more time at Kansas State seems the likely next step.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
