Draft Profile: Bio
Josh Conerly Jr. from Rainier Beach High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 5-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Conerly Jr. opted to join Oregon.

In 2022 as a freshman Conerly Jr. saw action in 10 games and played a total of 112 snaps for the Ducks. He allowed no QB hurries, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing the majority of his snaps at left tackle, and the rest at tight tackle.

As a sophomore in 2023 he played in 13 games and a total of 832 snaps. He conceded an unipressive 15 QB hurries, 2 QB hits, and one sack while playing at left tackle.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • He’s a coordinated athlete who can win at the point of attack in the run game, and Conerly can also move to consistently land blocks at the second level.
  • Understands angles and plays with good leverage. Conerly has long arms and heavy hands, using them effectively in pass protection, and he has a strong enough initial punch to get an edge on quick sets.
  • A smooth athlete with terrific mobility and footwork, staying light on his feet. Has the lateral range, natural shuffle movements, and lower body quickness to mirror speed rushers.
  • Does a nice job on the second level, moving upfield quickly and showing the flexibility and balance to land blocks in space.
  • Exhibits good patience in pass protection, sitting back in his set rather than leaning and lunging.
  • Quick feet to get inside of defensive tackles to wall off inside and reach linebackers at the second level.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Often gets too high in his sets, sacrificing some of his power, and Conerly doesn’t show great coordination between his upper and lower body when sliding back in pass protection.
  • Can be beat off the edge coming out of his stance lunging to reach speedy wide rushers.
  • Has good-not-great feet. Dealing with speed on the edge will likely be a problem, especially because he’s more comfortable moving forward as a run blocker than he is retreating as a pass protector.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
